One in 9 mothers will experience a perinatal mood disorder such as postpartum depression following childbirth. Care teams at Mon Health Obstetrics and Gynecology are combating these statistics by offering postpartum and lactation assistance to mothers who deliver at the Mon Health Medical Center Family Birth Center and Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Bender, who’s been a labor and delivery nurse for 17 years, says she hopes to play a role in dispelling myths associated with psychiatric disorders as well as closing the gap between delivery and postpartum support for every new parent.

Hogan, Registered Nurse, has worked in several settings including labor and delivery, childbirth instructor, and newborn nursery team member. Breastfeeding is one of Brenda's passions and she is happy to provide this important support to the families of West Virginia.

Buterbaugh, Registered Nurse, has worked in various service lines and leadership roles throughout her 40 year nursing career. Jill played an instrumental role in the Baby-Friendly designation for the Family Birth Center as well as the launch of the P3 Program in 2020. Jill retired from nursing in 2020 but realized she wasn't ready to give up her passion of supporting the families of West Virginia and returned in 2022.
